A group identified as the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law reffered to as ‘Intersociety’,  has disclosed that  some people of Nnamdi Kanu’s tribe gave him away over some lingering issues.

The Association  which serves as an Apostle of ‘positive peace’  have asked the Nigerian Government and aggrieved non-state actors to eschew violence and embrace dialogue and reconciliation.” as regards the trending  Nnamdi  Kanu case.

The Society went on to state that  that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu was arrested at an airport in Kenya which later attracted the attention of the Nigerian diplomatic officials.

His arrest which initially seemed to be a minor immigration issue, later turned out to be a clear act of ‘strawmen’  thus drawing the attention and involvement of the Nigerian diplomatic officials and security attachés at Nairobi, the country’s capital.”

Nnamdi Kanu was  handed over on Sunday 27th June 2021 after  paper evidence was availed that he is being wanted in Nigeria to complete his trial.

The group in a statement signed by its Principal Officers, Emeka Umeagbalasi, Obianuju Igboeli, and Chidimma Udegbunam, said, “the scuffle attracted Nigerian diplomatic officials and security attachés at Nairobi, the country’s capital.

It therefore went on to appeal that the Nigerian Government must ensure the round-the-clock safety and welfare of the IPOB leader in its custody as it will be more catastrophically untamed should anything untoward happens to him.

Adding that, The Government should consider granting him and his group amnesty including withdrawal of all charges against him and his members, the same way the Government has been treating the “repentant Boko Haram and Banditry Jihadists” as well un-tagging of IPOB as ‘a terror group’.” the statement read.
