Identical Twin Brothers Remanded For Gang-Raping Girl In Osun State

The Osun state Magistrate Court has remanded two identical twin brothers and an accomplice for gang rape


The Trio were accused of rapping a girl named Rukayat Adebayo at Oke-Abuja area, Iragbiji, Osun state.

The names of the culprits are Olabode Kehinde, Olabode Taye and Bakare Yusuf their accomplice.

The defendants are facing a six-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful carnal knowledge, indecent assault, breach of peace and damage of reputation of one Rukayat Adebayo, despite, pleading not guilty to the offence.

The Victim Rukayat Adebayo, TNNO learnt nearly took her life sequel to the inhuman treatment meted out to her during and after the incidence because the culprits did not only stop at rapping her but went on to post her nude pictures on the pages of social media.

The timely intervention of good Samaritans around her prevented Rukayat from taking her life.

 Najite Okobe, the Counsel appealing in favor of her clients (the defendants) orally  applied for their bail but  her request  was turned due to a statement by the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Temitope Fatoba who informed  the court that, “the three defendants and others now at large, sometime in March 2021 at about 7 pm at Oke-Abuja area, Iragbiji conspired among themselves to rape, indecently assault defame the character of Rukayat and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. Il laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.”

Inspector Fatoba said, the intent of the act by the rapist was to defamation of the Victim’s character by  injuring her reputation and posting, photographs of her nakedness after being sexually assaulted on social media thereby exposing her to hatred and ridicule.

The bail was not granted based on the afore-mentioned reasons given by, the police prosecutor who affirmed that, “the victim is still under medical attention and that the offence is rampant in the society.

Inspector Temitope Fatoba added that “The accused were on the run before being tracked by the police for arrest and there are still other two suspects that the police are looking for. If they are granted bail, it will jeopardize the effort of the police.”

He further stated that if granted bail, “there is likelihood for them to jump bail which will send a wrong signal to the members of the public.

Magistrate, A.O Daramola who presided over the case ordered that the boys should remain in custody and be remanded at the Ilesha Correctional Center till August 16th 2021 after which the case should be transferred to Iragbiji Magisterial District.
