The Command’s Spokesman, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement in Damaturu on Monday.
The Yobe State Police Command said it has arrested suspects in connection with the killing of a Staff of a UBA named Hassan Abubakar, who until his demise worked in the Damaturu Branch of the Bank.
The Suspects four in number are; Umar Shaibu, 21; Tajuddeen Taufiq, 20; Ismail Mohammed, 17; and Bulama Modu, 17, as disclosed by the Spokesman.
The culprits were apprehended during a sting operation carried out by detectives of ‘B’ Divisional Police Headquarters.
It was disclosed that on July 23, 2021 at about 1130hrs a report was received from one Abubakar Musa, an employee of UBA Bank, Damaturu Branch, that the victim, one Hassan Abubakar, did not report for duty and efforts to trace his whereabouts proved abortive.
This lead the Victims home and premises to be searched only to find bloodstains on the floor and some iron rods covered with blood, probably used in the commission of the crime.
On July 24, 2021 the principal suspect, Shaibu, was arrested as he attempted to cart away valuable items from the victim’s house,” The PRO explained.
Shuaib confessed to the crime on interrogation, saying that on July 22, 2021, he and three other suspects attacked the victims home at Red Bricks Housing Estate in Damaturu.
They robbed and killed the victim and buried the corpse in the compound before fleeing the premesis.
Abdulkarim however said, the Suspects would be charged to Court after investigation
