Hit and Run Driver Kills Students

The Niger State Commissioner of Education Hajiya Hannatu Jibrin Salihu on Wednesday shared the pains of the parents of  some hit and run  victims and identified with them over the unfortunate incident that led to the death of some students


The Minister  leading  a delegation from the Ministry to visit families of three bereaved students of ‘Day Secondary School’, Field Base, Suleja who were killed by an unidentified Private vehicle speeding in Suleja.

The students reported to have been trekking home as usual on Suleja-Kaduna Road on Monday afternoon where hit by an over-speeding vehicle lost control killing three of the students on the spot while eight others sustained varying degrees of injury.

She, however, described the incident as a painful and tragic one  going on to state that the said  students students were hit on returning home from school to their parents

She maintained that the state government shared in their pains and would be prepared to give them a sense of hope by giving support to the families of the deceased and those receiving treatment in the hospitals ensuring they get on their feet and bounce back to life, adding, that the deceased students would not be forgotten.

Hajiya Hannatu Jibrin Salihu instructed that the victims who needed advanced treatment should be referred to IBB Specialists Hospital, in  Minna; while praying that God will comfort the families of the deceased them over the loss.

In her speech, Hajiya Aishatu Umar, the Principal of the Government Secondary School Field Base  disclosed that the deceased were all Students of Senior Secondary one (SS1).

The victims who lost their life in the mishap were identified as Abdulhafees Musa, Kawiyat Sharafadeen, and Sunday Paul.

While the following had been discharged,  Esther Oyeyipo, Eze Solomon Akachuckwe Kingsley, Faliat Musbaudeen and Ugwo Ugochukwu were  still in the hospital receiving treatment while Amarachi Onyebochi, Balkisu  Ibrahim and Racheal Okiyose.

A parent, Mr Sunday Abba, who lost his only child in the accident, appreciated the commissioner for the visit and prayed for the gentle soul of his son to rest in peace.

and those receiving treatment at Suleja General Hospital, following the injuries sustained by them at the scene.
