Do you know this Man?

You Heard the Slogan, BJ Is OK?

You may ask what noise is this about BJ?

This name rings a bell in Ogba-Ojodu axis which prompted the ‘The Nigeria News Online’ reporter Gbemi Oduntan to sniff around.

In an attempt to put an end to the puzzle TNNO decided to have an interview with this Youthful Politician.

TNNO learnt that it would not be out of place to say this man is a Politician from birth as Soneye Abolaji paved his way seamlessly into Politics and the heart of people in his community.

Abolaji Adefowope had his early education at the Onoara Premoni Children School in the year 1986 to 1992; he then proceeded to higher School in the year 1992 to 1998, attending the Adebayo Mokuolu College, Ogba.

Having concluded his secondary education, Abolaji obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education in 2004 from  the Lagos State University (LASU) i He observed his National Youth Service in 2005/2006 at the Osisioma Local Government Area in Abia State of Nigeria,

In his quest for knowledge based on his experience as a Marketer, Mr. Soneye in the year 2016-2017 embarked on a Masters Degree Program in Marketing at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.

Soneye Abolaji Adefowope started his working career in his father’s outfit Oyindamola Industries as a Production Manager.

Having concluded his term with Oyindamola Industries, Abolaji started his own business. The Company was into the production of Stove Wick, and had nine staff in its employ, however the company died a natural death due to Government Policy which affected the importation of raw materials, in line with his hyperactive nature Abolaji immediately picked up another job in the financial market, he worked as Head of Sales with various Interaction Brokerage Companies namely:

  1. M-trading
  2. Headed marketing
  3. Blackwell global
  4. Admiral market

Abolaji in his magnanimous nature even as a student helped  to empower people, he was loved by many in the community thus giving rise to his being appointed as ‘Youth Leader’ of   ’Akiode Youth Forum’  in the year 2010, a position he earned due to his community activities.

Such activities include but are not limited to the reconciliation of Youth Divisions among Akiode Youth Community, Erection of street lights on every available electric Pole in the neighbourhood, when the Government had not repaired the roads, the Soneye led Youths Forum rose to the occasion by patching and filling the roads with concrete materials.

In addition to the above, in the year 1993-2011 on identifying the needs of the Health center in the Community for Benches, Pipe-borne water and electricity, Abolaji Soneye rallied the Akiode Youths to find a way at resolving the issue, hence the Health Center was provided with Benches, Pipe-borne water and electricity.

The Soneye led Youth administration tasked the Landlords and Tenants within the community to again raise money for the purchase and installation of a Prepaid Meter for the Health Center.

When mentioning the benefactors of the Soneye Abolaji Adefowope Youth Forum, the ‘Grammar School Police Post’ would not be left out as Benches were also made and given to them.

Emphasising the full account of all income and expenditure was to the community.

Soneye has always been a problem solver a typical example could be made when the Lagos State Government clamped down on Keke Napep and alot of people suffered due to lack of adequate transportation, In a bid to ease the difficulties faced by people with movement around town, Soneye threw his weight behind another Akiode Youth Mr. Mayowa Adebola and together they created a form of palliative as they got a bus registered  like an NGO Called the ‘Deliberate Efforts’ to convey people within and around the Community and Environs.

In recent times, during the hardship caused by the Covid-19 lockdown, the Akiode Youth Leader was again on hand to provide ‘One Meal per Day Feeding Programme ‘with six hundred people being fed on a daily basis.

Abolaji participation in active politics precedes his days in the University when he played normal circular politics. Abolaji was there when the party metamorphosed from AD to AC to ACN to AP

In the year 2010 Abolaji became the AC Ward Secretary a position he served for four years before being appointed the Local Government Area (LGA), Secretary for Mandate group in 2017

In 2017 he became the Ward Chairman a position he holds till date, Soneye Abolaji Adefowope is the current Chairman Ward’ E’ Ojodu Local Government Area.
