Oil, gas trainers lose $2b to COVID-19

The President of the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria Mr. Mayowa Afe, has informed that over $2 billlion has been lost in the last 12 months following the COVID-19 outbreak.

The President disclosed this yesterday in Lagos at a media briefing to announce activities lined up for this year’s annual General meeting/lecture series of the organisation.

The President said immediately the pandemic broke out, trainings were cancelled by several Oil and Gas Companies for their workforce, while others went virtual thus droppng their budgets because the resources to execute them were just not available.

He added that for every oil and gas contract in the country, three per cent of the project sum goes to training.

Stressing the fact that the Covid pandemic created a negative impact on the fortunes of OGTAN members.”
