The PEOPLE OF DENRO-ISASI-AKUTE APPEALS TO ROAD CONSTRUCTION WORKERS TO EXPEDITE ACTION
The suffering of the inhabitants of Oluwakemi area of Ojodu Abiodun in Ogun State and environs, is no more news.
This is due to the incessant flood which , has been a nightmare for residents and passerby’s because once the rain falls or the water in the Asejire dam is released the whole area becomes unaccessible and unihabitable..
To make matters worse, Residents have to face a long stretch of dusty, bumpy and bad roads.This happens when using the Ojodu-Berger axis to access Akute. This stressful journey leaves it’s toll on their body, bones and nerves.
Sequel to several accidents leading to loss of lives , the Inhabitants cried out to the Government of the State to come to their aid.
After several pleas, the Ogun State Government led by Dapo Abiodun the Governor heard the cry of the Citizens and made efforts to personally inspect the location and commission the repairs of the damaged roads, unfortunately the re-construction work has been extremely slow which has brought more hardship to the community.
The drainage which was embarked on over two years ago is yet to be completed despite that fact, the contractors recently commenced placing laterite layers on the graded road and this too is at snail speed.
A Resident commented saying” it is like they are forcing them to do the work”.
Hence the people have complained that the area has become seriously uninhabitable due to the dust which is constantly inhaled causing cough, catarrh and other possible ailments like atshma. While the Landlord’s who recently rebuilt the fences to their houses that were demolished to enable the construction of the road are complaining that the dust has smeared the recently painted buildings.
Most worrisome is the fear that should the rains come down the situation may end up being worse than it was because the roads will be slippery and not commutable.
Greater fear is that should the new dispensation come in, the project might be abandoned.
Therefore the people of the the Denro-isasi-Akute community and neighbouring areas are appealing to the Government to call on the Contractors to kindly expedite action on this project so that the efforts of the Governor Dapo Abiodun led Administration to bring relief to the masses will not be in vein.
