The Lagos State Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners (ANPMP) Holds Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference

The Lagos State Branch of the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners (ANPMP) on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 held its Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference with a Theme: Medical Practice in the face of Security Challenges.


The Chairman, Dr. Makinde O. Akinlemibola in his opening address said this particular AGM is unique; adding that since ratification of the name ‘Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners’ (ANPMP) at the last National AGM , this was the first time it is being used officially.


The ANPMP Chairman went on to state that the issues brought forward were germaine not only to private medical practice but to all Practitioners in general.


He said the essence, being to proffer solutions which would benefit all concerned and foster a better working relationship between Stakeholders and Practitioners thereby creating a better practice environment.


Other issues deliberated on at the event had to do with Medical Insurance, Mental well being of Practitioners especially during this Covid-19 Period, Health Care Delivery , the recent blue print on reforms which is being worked on among others.


In his speech, Dr. Tolu Ajomale, Coordinator Special Projects and Mental Health representing the Lagos state Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi appealed to ANPMP to work hand in hand with the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, (HAFAMAA).

He further explained that HAFAMAA is the Agency put in place by the Lagos State Government to monitor quack practices and promote medical standards in the State.


Dr, Ajomale said the Lagos State Government was currently working hand in hand with to HAFAMAA to promulgate a new set of health reforms to curb excesses and loopholes in medical practice.


The aim is to protect and support accountability while leveraging on acceptable medical practices as recommended by the State.


He said the Commissioner for Health has stressed the need for proper documentation and data protection.


He urged that Practitioners see HAFAMAA as partners not rivals or a body out to witch hunt them.


AIG (Rtd) Dr, Grace Okudo, a Consultant, Physician, Dermatologist and Venereologist addressing the forum, urged Practitioner to be more security conscious by acquainting themselves with members of the Community and partaking in community related activities.

Giving his Speech, Dr. Anthony Omolola said, firstly Doctors must learn to secure their lives and also focus more on the financial aspect of Medicine since Doctors use the same Market as others.


In attendance at the event were Medical Doctors representing various State Executive Councils in Lagos spanning from Badagry, Ketu and Ikorodu to mention a few , the who is who in Medicine in Lagos State and people from various works.


The Doctors Spouses were also taken care of with Mrs. Rita Ndidi Amuchenwa a facilitator, who took them through a short training session on ‘Etiquettes’
