The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has continued its grassroots advocacy with a sensitisation programme held at Ijaiye Community.

The State Government reinforcing its commitment to preventing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

Mr. Akinde Emmanuel, a community Engagement officer, has been saddled with the task of enlightening community members on the various forms of abuse, including physical, sexual, emotional, and economic violence.The officer also highlighted the support services available to survivors and outlined the appropriate reporting channels.

Participants were encouraged to promptly report any case of abuse through the DSVA toll-free line: 08000-333-333.

He further urged attendees to amplify the zero-tolerance message by sharing the information with other members of the community who were not present.

In his response the Baale of Ijaiye, Baale Akinwale Olufemi Aremu Akintonde, expressed appreciation to the agency for bringing such an important initiative to the community and advised that the awareness be extended to other Baales across Lagos State to ensure wider awareness and collective action.

The Oba of Ijaye also encouraged the team to collaborate with other relevant bodies to further promote the agency’s mandate acclcording to him, sexual and gender-based violence is a long-standing societal menace, and sustained advocacy like this is crucial in addressing it.

The programme was well attended, with over 25 community members actively participating in the sensitisation session, demonstrating the community’s interest in promoting safety, accountability, and zero tolerance for all forms of abuse.
