The Sixth day in the month of December 2025 will not be forgotten in a hurry as it will go down in the history books as the day the Lagos State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners showed the stuff they were made of.
The Medical Doctors proved to all present that indeed they too need to pay attention to their work- life balance and that anything worth doing at all is worth doing well.
It was a day of pomp and pageantry as the Doctors and spouses showed up in various colours showcasing the Nigerian rich cultural heritage
The Event tagged Gala and Awards 2025 was held at an exquisite venue in Ikeja GRA butressing the saying that the venue tells the event.
The Gala ceremony was organized by the ANPMP Local Organizing Committee made up of Medical Doctors who proved that they could multi-task as they showed today’s event planners that they were learners at the game,the team Chairman was ‘Dr Adolphus Essien’ who bonded tirelessly with his team to ensure that the event was well packaged.
At the helm of affairs that day was a wonderful Master of Ceremony Mc Mario who walked closely with a comedian to bring smiles and laughter to the faces of these Medical Practitioners who had taken a day off the stress of the Hospital, Theatre, Ward and Patients.
In the normal manner the event started with MC Mario asking that the National Anthem be sang which this time had more depth with an underlining tone implying the Doctors boastfully saying “we are not just Medical Doctors but we are proudly Nigerian, Practicing in Nigeria and have proved our mantle and no matter what it takes we will contribute our quota to humanity and our Nation and we will not japa no matter the odds”
The Chairman of the Day was Dr. Awelenje Omotooke a Surgeon and member of various Medical bodies and Organizations who had proved his onus in his chosen field.
In his opening address the Chairman of the ANPMP Lagos State Chapter
Dr. Jonathan Esegine welcomed everyone to this annual Gala celebration giving special recognition to their spouses who had been of immense support not leaving out his pretty wife Barrister Muna Esegine.
Dr. Esegine went on to commend the slow but steady progress he and his colleagues were making as regards the building project for the Doctors House calling in the support of Parent bodies ,local governments with special reference to Mushin whose Chairman Honourable Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe was physically present at the occasion, Philanthropists and good willed Nigerians.
The Chairman also specially recognized Dr. Pamela Ajayi who was the Mother of the day for her immense support through the years .
In attendance was the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly Honourable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, The National President of ANPMP Dr. Kay Adesola FAGP and Dr.Kehinde Saheed, Chairman Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Lagos Zone. Other dignitaries present at the event were The Permanent Secretary of the regulatory body HEFAMAA Dr. Mrs Abiola Idowu, Dr Christy Amida The Executive Director Lekki Gardens,
Otunba Bestman Nze-Jumbo- a business man, marketing strategist and Cultural Ambassador Dr Leke Oshuniyi, past Secretary General of the Association, Dr Tosin Olowojebutu Vice President 1 NMA, Press and People from all works of life.
To Spice up the event was a cultural display from the South South while item’7′ was going on. None practitioners present marvelled to see Medical Doctors unwind and give themselves a treat, there was so much to wine and dine on with interactions and reunions taking place.
The highlight of the day was the Award ceremony with Awards given to deserving Practitioners among those who went home with Awards were Dr.Olawunmi Abiodun Otusanya, Dr.Rahman Mudashiru Adebisi, Dr.Ademola Olufemi Denloye ,Dr.Azubuike Micheal Ileka.
Then came cutting of the cake donated by the Mother of the day Mrs.Pamela Ajayi with officials and Members gathered in unity around the cake and once this was done it was time for ‘Dance,Dance ,Dance’ and you need to see that once the stethoscopes are dropped the Doctors sure know how to ‘wiggle’ as they and their spouses took to the dance floor.
Indeed it is a day to be remembered.
